There are a few reasons for me starting this blog. The main one is accountability. It’s so easy to not be truthful with your family and friends. They never believe you when you say you are ok with your weight by the way. But because they love and care for you, they will usually just nod and think, one day she’ll figure it out.
In the 2007 Australian season of The Biggest Loser there was a contestant called Kimberly. When she was asked why she entered, she said something along the lines of being so humiliated dong it, that there was no way she would ever let herself put the weight on again. I guess a part of me feels the same and this is my version of that humiliation. Let’s face it, when you are as large as I am, you feel humiliated at some stage, most days of your life.
A weight loss journey is huge. There are ups and downs emotionally and on the scales, there are hunger pains and depression, there are why bother days and wow I feel great days. All of these things can make you stay on track or give you an excuse to fall of the tracks. This blog will be my little voice telling me to stay on track. Hopefully this blog will motivate someone, anyone to face up to the grim reality of a major weight problem.

I’m so excited that I’m sharing this journey. I’ve often been told that I should write a book – and I’m guessing this is a faster version of that. Difference is, this is all me – mistakes and all. No editor, no ghost writer and no spell check.
I don’t have a photo of myself at the beginning of this journey of discovery, but I will get a current one up in the next couple of days. The truth is, I didn’t have the courage to take it. I promise to get one taken rolls and all.
The internet is an amazing place, and I’m only just realising it’s power. No, I’m not slow on the uptake, I’ve been busy. Busy reading all about it, going to seminars about it, but, you guessed it, not actually putting any of it into action. Now I have a big sign above my desk ACTION ACTION ACTION just so I don’t forget what I’m meant to be doing.
ACTIONs to achieve my weight loss and fitness goals.
ACTIONs to create the most amazing opportunities for my daughter and I.
ACTIONs to achieve my financial goals.
ACTIONs to achieve my career goals. This one’s a bit harder as I’m still working on the ‘what career do I want’ question.
ACTIONs to surround myself with supportive and loving people
Today I actually voiced my goals for this blog with a complete stanger when I was at the Australian Businesswomen’s Network 10th Annual Businesswomen’s Seminar and Expo Day. What a great day, just what I needed to make me come home and actually start typing.
http://www.abn.org.au
Anyway. Welcome to my blog.
Must run. Still need to do About Me page.
